How do I book an item to show in class?
(printer-friendly version)
To show videos and DVDs from the library in your class, there are three steps.
1) Reserve a room (unless you are using your regularly scheduled classroom)
- For Weekday reservations: Registrar's office (404) 727-6042
- For Evening & weekend reservations: Meeting Services Office (404) 727-5355
- For Heilbrun Library's Group Viewing Room: (404) 727-1777
2) Arrange for Technical Support
3) Book the video in advance
- In EUCLID on the web, find the video or film you want to book.
- Click on the light-blue REQUEST button at the top of the page.
- Select MEDIA REQUEST-INSTRUCTORS ONLY.
- Fill in the form and click SUBMIT. (Note that if your designee is placing the request, we ask for that person's name at the top and your name under "Instructor's name.")
- The Media Coordinator will confirm your booking and the videos will be held at the library for pickup on the specified day.
Allow at least one business day (M-F) for processing. For same-day or next-day service, or as an alternative to online booking, come in or call us at 404-727-1777 whenever the Heilbrun library is open. We do not accept booking requests via e-mail.

Must I book an item in advance?
While it is possible to pickup an item for use in class on the same day of use without having booked it in advance, it is to the advantage of the instructor who wants to use an item to book as far in adance as possible. Booking an item secures it for your use on the day(s) you will be needing it thus preventing anyone else from checking it out. Please also remember that Emory lends its Visual Materials through InterLibrary Loan. So, even if no one at Emory is teaching the same curriculum as your class, there is always the possibility that someone has requested our copy of that item through InterLibrary Loan.

Do you deliver the item to me?
No. The Heilbrun Library cannot deliver items.
Can I have a student pick up the item for me?
You may arrange for a student to pick up your booked items. However, this student must be registered as an official proxy on your account in order to check out the item and the student may only pick up items that you have already booked.

Can I preview a video I want to show in class?
You may always preview any item in our collection
within the library. Although the library's video collection
does not circulate outside of the library, as a courtesy,
instructors may often preview videos at home for class
use provided the item is not scheduled for use elsewhere.
Loans of up to three titles will be made for no
longer than three days. Please request videos
at the service desk or contact Colin Bragg at (404) 727-1649.

What if you don't own the item I want to show?
Titles that are not in the library's collection may often be purchased or rented. To request purchase of a video, or for assistance in identifying appropriate titles, contact the selector/liaison who serves your academic department. The General Libraries will make every effort to obtain your video as quickly as possible.
For 16mm or 35mm films or for videos inappropriate for purchase, use Heilbrun Library's Film-Rental Service.
